The individuals that fill the two positions below must have the focus that the summer outdoor camps are for the benefit and experience of the campers and that the trips are not geared to the level of the leaders but the level of the campers.
Outdoor Assistant – This position is in most aspects similar to a Sr. counselor position but because of the environment of the outdoor camps it changes the expectations and roles. The outdoor assistant will work directly with the outdoor director and facilitator in the implementation of all outdoor camps. This position will also share in all aspects of the camps and should expect to be called upon in non-traditional Sr. counselor tasks.
It is a full time, paid position starting end of June - end of August. A normal week begins Sunday at 1:30 pm and runs to Friday at 6:00 pm. There are two family camps that you will need to be available to work; Family Camp 1 and Family Camp 2.
Outdoor Facilitator – This person will be involved in the planning, facilitating and implementation of out-door programming. During June the out-door facilitator will assist in all aspects of planning and preparing for the out-trips and out-back camps. They will help with rental groups activities and general help around the camp when needed. During July and August this position will work directly with the outdoor director to implement the out-door camps. All tasks of the camps will be shared; cooking, route picking, devotions and spiritual aspects, etc.
The individual that fulfills this position should have an enthusiastic and confident personality that will demonstrate professional out-door leadership. They should have confident camping, canoeing and wilderness skills and crafts. This individual should have first aid training (wilderness preferred).
